This is part of the problem with religion. A belief in the supernatural, in itself, is merely an irrational belief. But a devotion to the church is, in the eyes of the church leaders, a commitment to completely abnegate one's own will in favour of the will of "God". Don't judge for yourself, listen to what we say!

 They're worse than Stalin!

How can you have a debate with someone who is conditioned to believe unthinkingly in what they're told? It's a problem.

I agree, the leaders of the Christian church are just a bunch of people who want money by making people believe in a false religion. Whenever I meet anyone who's been brainwashed by this religion, I don't bother debating with them, it'll make me look stupid and its no different than talking to a wall.

Hey, it's as simple as this. There are alot of people out there who seem to believe that Original Sin, since eating fruit somehow equates with sex, and sex seems to be what Christians stay worked up about the most. However, the apple that Eve ate, causing she and Adam to get cast from the Garden of Eden, was from the "Tree of Life and Knowledge." If that doesn't scream anti-intellectuality then I don't know what the fuck does.

I watched the original planet of the apes at the weekend. I never realised what a great film it was. It highlights the conflict between religion and free thought quite well.

Yes, you just have to look at the book of Genesis to realise what an oppressive religion Christianity is.

Satan rebels against God and tries to take power for himself [attempting to overthrow an oppressive autocratic regime]. Satan is thrown out of heaven [all evil things are subsequently blamed on him]. He then persuades humanity to eat from the Tree Of Knowledge [allows them to become educated]. God is angry with humanity [because, as every oppressor knows, you're fucked if the oppressees become educated] and throws them out of the Garden of Eden [thus compelling those who are "true believers" to spend their entire lives saying "sorry"].
