In the movie, the hero (V ) wears a mask. Neither his face nor his real identity are revealed. Having watched the film, I think that there is some evidence indicating which was the real identity of V; Which was his real name and what kind of life he led before becoming a revolutionary. Does anybody else think that there is such evidence in the film? Do you have any thoughts about who V might really be?

Read the graphic novel by Alan Moore. It is more in-depth than the movie, and goes more into the politics, as well.

NO :P
V isn't anybody in the film, though I agree there are some allusions to what his life may have been before Larkhill.

Yeah, there was theories in the movie that "V" used to be imprisoned in this extreme biological testing facility("V" being the number of his cell), and that he had been the lone survivor of a series of biological tests. He got out when this huge fire erupted, and with some serious burning he miracolusly(sp?) survived.
The only thing that I didn't like about the movie was that the director seemed to angle it so "V" seemed like he was only out for revenge. I mean; can't anyone blow up the parlament "just because..." these days?
Oh, and the ending was frikkin spectacular! Magnificient! Delicious! Orgasmic! Gasmactic! "V"-matic!
(Sorry, for the dry humour)

There is no person, per say, under V's mask. V is what he stands for; under his mask is equality, freedom, revolution. Under his mask is, in a word, anarchism, and I think that's how Alan Moore created him: an ideal as opposed to an actual "superhero."
His actual history, if that's what you're looking for, is listed out pretty well in the movie, as well as the novel. It's a terrific book, and if you have the time and money, go pick it up!
