What was Mao's view of Che?

What did he say of Che, after he died?

Well, I wouldn't trust this source entirely but it says in 'Mao:The Unknown Story' by Jung Chang, that after this meeting Mao saw Che as too much of a 'competitor' and their relations were broken off.

There may be a grain of truth in that story, but the book is very one-sided.

As for what he said of Che after death, I have no idea.

Che Guevara respected Mao and favored the PRC over the USSR. He kept this view despite the Sino-Soviet split and was harshly criticized by the Soviets for this. So I think that Mao still respected Che even though the Cubans were in the Soviet camp.

By the way, I wouldn't trust that Mao biography at all. It simply serves the agenda of a woman who's trying to get back at Mao for what occured during the Cultural revolution.
