i know Daniel Ortega's running, duz it look like he's gonna win? I think a Sandanista government in power would be great, but i've heard Ortega was pretty corrupt last tmie he was in power. Is this true? I really should know more about this, but i dont.

It won't take much for the Sandinistas to win. The current president is a non-entity called Enrique Bolaños, and his government has been completely discredited for both its lack of accomplishments and its dependence on the United States. Arnoldo Alemán, the president before Bolaños and a member of the same party, is serving house arrest for corruption. Things in Nicaragua, overall, are self-destructing. I wouldn't be surprised if the US interfered in the elections on behalf of the corrupt status quo.

what I know is that sandanistas coudn't win the election 10 years after victory and I cant believe that U.S. that I know was innocent in making propaganda or direct interfering. His victory is not to hard to imagine after what's happened in other countries there,. manythings have changed since the last elections some 5 yeras ago.

The Sandanistas should win. It wouldbe another victory for the left in Latin Ameirca. And looking at them they still look like serious socialsits, as opposed to the more 'moderate' line held by say the new president of Chile.

Ortega's politics are reformist though. He changed the Sandinista national anthem to ensure friendly relations with the US in a future Sandinista Govt <_<

Bush has urged Nicaraguans not to vote Sandinista, I wonder why.

This reminds me of the Regan dictatorship and it's oppression on nicaragua, bloddy times those were, at least the bastard's dead now. :)
