Hugo Chavez of Venezuela, Fidel Castro of Cuba and Evo Morales of Bolivia today cemented a pact called ALBA, which is meant to integrate their countries in regards to trade and act as an alternative to American-led trade proposals. The leader of the Sandinistas from Nicaragua (who is poised to become the next President) was present as well as an observer, meaning if he becomes President he could join them? Interesting stuff!

Very interesting indeed! I am surprised Chile was not involved in this as well.

Oh and who was the observer? I would imagine it would be Peru correct? They are turning left as well.

Michelle Bachelet isn't even left of Jack Layton or Lopez Obrador.

I believe the observor was Ortega, leader of the Sandinistas in Nicaragua. It will be interesting to note how the center-left leaders (Lula, Kirchner, Bachelet, etc) will respond to this...
