Announcing Manifest,a radical essay competition for young Marxist thinkers beginning May Day
Beginning May Day, entries will be accepted for Manifest, an essay contest for young thinkers writing on issues influenced by the works of Marx and the Marxist tradition.
The contest’s aim is to encourage robust and thoughtful appraisal of theoretical and practical issues from within a broadly Marxist paradigm and to stimulate interest in the questions these theories continue to pose today.
Manifest’s objectives are motivated by recognition of the continued intellectual relevance of Marxist theory to intellectual exploration, and to the need for a theoretical and practical alternative to unrestrained capitalist economic and social policies and cultural practices.
The competition has been supported by a number of left-wing academics, most notably by cultural-economic geographer, David Harvey.
