This was actually among the text ads (including ones like "True Religion, latest styles, Free Shipping over $100") at the top of the Religion forum page:
God Without Religion (http://godwithoutreligion.com)

Would this be compatible with communist ideals? Does anybody practice this?
I'd like to see your thoughts.

It might or might not be "compatible" with communist "ideals".

What it's incompatible with is material reality.

According to this guy, "slower breathing" makes you "happier".

Maybe so, who knows?

Whereupon he leaps from that to the "existence" of a "universal God" that doesn't do anything.

Sankara Saranam's "god" doesn't intervene in the universe on behalf of its "true worshipers" while smiting the heathens.

What's the use of a "god" that doesn't put you and yours on top and everyone else on the bottom?

Humans invented "gods" to explain natural phenomena...and we no longer need those useless "explanations".

By "correct ritual", it was supposed that we could control the "gods" we invented so that they would intervene in our universe and "make things good for us". And now, we have better (scientific) ways to do that sort of thing.

Saranam's "path" appeals to "inner spirituality"...on the premise that such a thing "exists".

Only in those who suffer from fairly serious brain disorders. :o

So why would anyone be interested in Saranam's "universal god"?

Like most things in modern capitalism, it might be possible to make some money off the idea.

Maybe make some rich people "feel guilty" and make some serious donations. Develop a line of books, pamphlets, dvds, t-shirts, whatever sorts of "spiritual knickknacks" that suckers will buy.

See the thread on scientology to see where you can go with something like this. :o
