James Connoly As i come from the place of Mr.Connoly i've studied his life. Read his books and admired him from a young age. He was a great politiacal leader and revolutionary he made a country raise up against the biggest imperial empire of the time. He died for this country and for his beleafs he showed the people of Ireland that revolutiobn is posible Che Guevara took after him Che followed the urban guerilla tactics that were used in Dublin etc.... Rage against the Machine followed his life, alot of there music follow around him. He was the first to put "Men, Women and Children" He was the first to put women on any decloration he was a great socialist and feminist. He believed in equal rights for everybody he belived that revolution was posible. He is a great man and leader and should never be forgotten. He is up there with Che, Lenin and Larkin(Also a great socialist and leader) :biggrin: Thank you Me love socialism!!!!!!!!!!

The Red Flag
By James Connell

The workers' flag is deepest red,
It shrouded oft our martyred dead;
And ere their limbs grew stiff and cold
Their life-blood dyed its every fold.

Chorus:
Then raise the scarlet standard high;
Beneath its folds we'll live and die,
Though cowards flinch and traitors sneer,
We'll keep the red flag flying here.

Look 'round, the Frenchman loves its blaze,
The sturdy German chants its praise;
In Moscow's vaults its hymns are sung,
Chicago swells its surging song.

It waved above our infant might
When all ahead seemed dark as night;
It witnessed many a deed and vow,
We will not change its color now.

It suits today the meek and base,
Whose minds are fixed on pelf and place;
To cringe beneath the rich man's frown,
And haul that sacred emblem down.

With heads uncovered, swear we all,
To bear it onward till we fall;
Come dungeons dark, or gallows grim,
This song shall be our parting hymn!

What I've always admired most about James Connolly (aside from the fact that he was a Marxist who wrote a book that doesn't cause headaches ;) ) is that, no matter what country he was in - whethere it be Ireland, Scotland or the United States- he always dedicated himself to the labour movement of that nation.
