When we talk about communism and theory, people tend to focus on Lenin, Stalin, Mao etc when it comes to communist politicians. However, what with all the countries run by 'communist' governments in Eastern Europe, and also with the later USSR leaders, I was just wondering if any of them ever contributed anything to communist theory or the cause in general?

Most Eastern European leaders, with the exception of Tito and Hoxha, followed the Moscow line so they contributed close to nothing to Marxist ideology.

Although he has his group of followers, Hoxha did little more to develop Marxist theory then the Soviet satellite states.

The same is true for Castro, there are many who claim to follow his ideals but they are nothing more then a continuation of Marxism Leninism.

I don't know about 'leaders' but Herbert Marcuse, Antonio Gramsci, and Ho Chi Minh have contributed to the movement.
