The President of Byelorussia Alexander Lukahenko has formulated the basis of state ideology. He stated that communistic ideas would live as long as mankind does. At the same time he called ideology of liberalisms exceptionally aggressive and alien to the east European civilization and its values.
According to Lukashenkos opinion state ideology is the immune system of a state, and when it is destroyed any even most insignificant infection can be fatal. He reminded our bad experience: The infections of nationalism, callousness and consumption corroded the ideals of great country on the sunset of soviet era. The immune system didnt work. Soviet Union doesnt exist anymore. One of the reasons for this was that communists, who had managed to create perfect system of ideological work, destroyed it by the formalism. Another reason was the complete devastation in minds of the new generation of Communist Party leaders: They LOST THEIR FAITH IN MARXISM- LENINISM (IF THEY HAVE EVER BELIEVED IN IT), BECAUSE THIS TEACHING WAS NOT EASY, IT WAS HARD TO LEARN. SOME OF THEM DIDNT EVEN READ ANY MARXIST- LENINIST BOOKS

The most intelligible for us ideology is the ideology of communism. The failure of socialistic experiment doesnt mean death of communistic ideas. They will live as long as mankind, as they have strive for equality and social justice in their basis. Our country lived almost whole 20th century with communist views. The significant victories over poverty, illiteracy and nazism were taken with this ideology. Byelorussia can easily accept such principles as collectivism, patriotism and social justice. The high prestige of education and forms of moral encouragement of the people has already became the part of our daily life, -said Lukashenko.
Communist ideology, based on Marxist- Leninist, according to Lukashenkos definition, should become one of the main components of Byelorussias state ideology.

Very nice! With any luck this will be a trend that breaks the counter-revolution.

President of Russia has been Marxist during Soviet time, but since the collapse of the USSR he appeared to be renegade and betrayed great ideals...

Please, please, please, folks, look past the words.

Does anyone on this board have even the vaguest notion of what is actually going on in Belarus?

Has there been a great working-class revolution there and no one noticed?

The only thing I've heard about that place is that it is very poor and its more or less uncontested leader, Lukahenko, has been making noises for years about Belarus joining up with Russia again. That probably makes sense...but in what sense will Belarus be "communist" as part of capitalist Russia?

As to the statement of Lukahenko that people "lost faith in Marxism-Leninism"--well, what did he expect? When the tools of Marxism were converted into empty religious dogmas...especially during the Brezhnev era...why shouldn't people "lose faith"? If "faith" is all you have to go on, why not move over to the experts and pick a church?

redstar2000's dogma: don't celebrate until you know you've actually won something!

True enough Redstar2000.

However unlike other places in the former Soviet Union Belarus is the only place where people aren't starving, wages are paid on time and the leader Mr Lukahenko has that really bad haircut which is so 1980's that he couldn't possibly be anything but a Soviet Beuracrat.

I believe he was elected in 1996 and since then has certainly build some sought of 'Socialism' in Belarus. I read somewhere that the CIA sine 9/11 I believe are funding 'Contras' style death squards to cause chaos, they wouldn't be doing that if he wasn't a threat and a threat to U$ Imperialism is usually a Socialist (Milosevich and Hussein were U$ puppets before hand, same can't be said of Belarus).

More details are needed.

Cuba, China, Vietnam, North Korea and Laos are all socialist states operating under Marxist-Leninist ideology. It is up for debate whether Libya is socialist or not. Moldova currently has its former ruling Communist Party in power, and Mongolia also has the former ruling party of its socialist period in power. Venezuela currently has a radically left-wing President, but it still remains capitalist.

Vietnam and China Arent socialist...

you should know China isnt even near socialism..
it is a deadly mix of underrated stalinis with capitalism..
even the CP now agreed with the creation of a national wide free market...

and Vietname alredy has a free market...
in fact Vietnames decay as a socialist state started right after Ho Chi Minhs death..
his ideals and theorys were totally uprooted by his followers...
and now Vietnam is imitating China...

if not just look at the amoiunt of sweetshops and bourgeouse exploitation in Vietname, does that look socialism to you??
