View Full Version : Looking for anarcho-communist heavy metal

Hey, I'm trying to find some (non-straight-edge) anarcho-communist heavy metal music. Ideally, something with Rammstein's sound, but with revolutionary proletarian anarcho-communist lyrics. If it has Leninist lyrics, I'll settle for that too, I guess. But preferably anarcho-communist. All I can find that has these sort of lyrics is anarcho-punk rock. But I'm looking for something industrial-sounding, with maybe a little bit of techno or "tanz-metall" feel. Ideally something with which one can understand the lyrics. Ideally something that sounds rather polished. If anyone could point me in the right direction, that would be awesome.
I already saw that CrimethInc. offers music from an anarcho-communist band named "Timebomb," but I'm reluctant to buy a copy of that because it says it is "vegan, straight-edge," and pacifist. I want motherfucking militant metal to which I can trash my hair and fantasize about bashing capitalists in the head with sledgehammers.

Well, Arch Enemy has a video clip where Angela has an circle-A painted on her top; "We Will Rise." I'm not sure how much that reflects any deeper political allegiance though. <.<
Thir lyrics are a bit meh anyway, but their sound is fantastic. Death metal, very good technically with some cool samply things. (thinking specifically of that song...)

Urgh, sadly most anarchism is within punk bands, from what I've herd so far, although there is a kind of country band known as the ‘Durruti Column’. The Closest you’re going to get to anarchism with the genre of music you have prescribed is certain anti-capitalist songs by Metal and Hardcore bands.
Hatebreeds song 'Another Day, Another Vendetta' is a great song, it has class struggle meaning. Also Hatebreeds song ‘Tear it Down’ is a good song.
Also there is nothing wrong with 'Straight Edge' music. I have always seen in some way’s straight edge as forwarding a culture that is different to the present bourgeois culture within society.
So why not throw your arms around to some hardcore or metal and raise your fist and say proudly “drug free”.

Thanks for the pointers! I will check those bands out.

Well, I don't do drugs as of yet, but I don't feel particularly inclined to "pledge" to be drug-free or to listen to a band talk about how great being drug-free is.
Living contrary to capitalism's expectations is great as long as it makes sense and produces a better life for one's self (in other words, as long as it works for you). The problem I have with straight edge is that it seems to take a sort of doctrinal, moral approach to things like drugs, sex, veganism, etc., and it seems to argue that everyone should strive towards abstention in these areas, as if straight edge were a way to "avoid sin."

I think it´s plain "lifestylism".
Comrade-Z, you might want to give a shot to Kreator´s "Cause For a Conflict" (not sure if the lyrics are anarcho-communist, but they´re communist no doubt of that) or for a Portuguese Anarcho-Black Metal band called Filii Nigrantium Infernalium with the album "Fellatrix Discordia Pantokrator" (unfortunately, it´s lyrics are in Portuguese), which despite not containing nothing about class struggle, it´s filled with anti-nationalist, anti-fascist, anti-theist and anti-religious lyrics (their lead singer reminds me of Jello Biafra).

Yes I do! ^_^
Fist of Blood = new best friend.
But, if you want some commie lyrics and badass grindcore, look no further than Assuck, Nasum, Capitalist Casualties, and Cattle Decapitation (although they are Vegan).
I'm not a fan of Rammstein, personally, so I don't listen to that type of music, but I'm sure there are melodic death metal bands who have commie lyrics. At The Gates who are a "Gothenburg" band do have anti-hierarchal lyrics, but I wouldn't say they are deep politically.
Other than that, I'd recommend Sepultura. They've got a strong left leaning political message. And their sound may be more up your alley than grindcore.
Hope I helped.

Sacred Reich 'the american way'
Truth and honor faith and pride
all convictions surely died
honesties time has passed
time for lies is here at last
truth is false I'm so fed up
how did we come to be so fucked
hate fear pain death
all our country has got left
Talk to children hear them say
daddy left again today
brother steals and mommy lies
future lost before their eyes
the sun was lost behind the clouds
they rapped it up and blacked it out
acid rain fell today
it came and washed our hopes away
This was once the land of dreams
now these dreams have turned to greed
in the midst of all this wealth
the poor are left to help themselves
a capitalist's democracy
no one said that freedom's free
lady liberty rots away
no truth, no justice
the American way
Don't look past your t.v.
all of us are what you see
a looking glass into our lives
what we watch is what we buy
priorities are out of whack
who is next to stab our back
doesn't it make you mad
to have lost all that we've had
This was once the land of dreams
now these dreams have turned to greed
in the midst of all this wealth
the poor are left to help themselves
a capitalist's democracy
no one said that freedom's free
lady liberty rots away
no truth, no justice
the American way
Doesn't it fill you with disgust
that there's no one left to trust
is this happening is this real
my body numb I cannot feel
are you happy are you sad
are emotions a thing of the past
I have no tears I cannot cry
no one mourns for a world that's died
This was once the land of dreams
now these dreams have turned to greed
in the midst of all this wealth
the poor are left to help themselves
a capitalist's democracy
no one said that freedom's free
lady liberty rots away
no truth, no justice
the American way
Sacred Reich 'state of emergency'
Jailed and beaten
left to die
political prisoners
of apartheid
youth of the nation
violently oppressed
in the quest for freedom
thousands dead
How can we let this be
in their country
they must be free
when will segration end
when will the masses be free again
I can't concieve
of this injustice
I can't believe
it's going on
white man's law
is held supreme
black man
have no rights at all
How can we let this be
in their country
they must be free
when will segration end
when will the masses be free again
In this age
let's have harmony
all people
can be free
this injustice
must now end
the masses
will be free again
How can we let this be
in their country
they must be free
when will segration end
when will the masses be free again
Check out Sepultura, Kreator, Napalm Death.
Actually when I was heavily in to thrash/death metal (late 80's 90's) most of the bands had leftish lyrics. I will search my brain for more bands and post if I remember.
Napalm Death.
Dammit, I was going to suggest that.

If you don't mind it being in Spanish, Paul Gillman is one of the best heavy metal musicians from Venezuela and has clearly revolutionary lyrics. Particularly in his album "despertando en la historia".

Krabathor, a death metal band has some anti-fascist lyrics in his song "Shit comes brown" from the album Orthodox; but they aren't communists.
"You little stupid nazi!
Who never used to think
Why you love to wear the shirt
In color of own shit?"
Kreator, napalm death, and sepultura are leftist bands.

Napalm Death, I guess. The only one that I can think of, that isn't crappy nu-metal...

You might aswell mention the whole crustpunk genre. Possibly the most progressive genre around.
Whats with all this sXe/vegan hate? Sure, i have my problems with puritanical ideas, but I think generally these are both personal things, and fairly progressive give or take a few things. I hardly want to argue this point thoroughly here though.
On industrial metal type bands, with anarcho-communist lyrics, I would reccommend perhaps KMFDM (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kmfdm) and Ministry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ministry_%28band%29).

i think youre way out in your opinions of straightedge. Yes some are more hardline than others and look down on people who smoke drink etc. And straight edge is far from meat free, thats more a movement within straightedge

if you want industrial metal, try Ministry. if you just want industrial, try some Skinny Puppy. they're vegans, but the music is BRUTAL. many industrial bands are communist. Nitzer Ebb has a few good fight songs, like Join In The Chant. well, happy hunting.

Alabama Thunderpussy - Wage Slave
youtube.com/watch?v=_kdlXCbEoTk
Lyrics:
Quick glance into the never
Mind bent on saving time
Bold sense of dunce bravado
It's your ass on the line
Poor pig with nothing on you
scraping & scratching for a dime
To buy back the tattered soul
you sold there
but the truth of the matter
is it's just a lie
AS HOPE DISSOLVES
YOU FALL AWAY ---
9 Tenths of what you borrow
Won't help you
get through tomorrow
Crime becomes a tempting option
To release you from the strain
Here comes the craven wage slave dripping with
sweat, bad blood & tears
Looking to get out,
up above & overchipping away
yet chained to fear
THE SYSTEM FAILS
YOU ONCE AGAIN
ONE FACT PREVAILS
THE ONLY WAR IS CLASS WAR
RISE & Burn this fucker down
ORGANIZE
Turn yourselves around
MARCH ON
Hold high the torch of hope
FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT
Don't let them destroy you
IT'S YOUR CHOICE
IT'S YOUR VOICE
One struggle binds us together
Not going down without a fight
This storm together we'll weather
At the least we'll have our pride

Though they do have a couple anti-authoritarian-type songs, I would hardly call either of those bands political. not to say that you shouldnt check them out anyway, they're pretty good bands
its really hard to find any metal bands with political lyrics, that topic has pretty much been ceded to punk >_<
dont know if you like em or not but I'm a fan of Rage Against The Machine. "the Battle of Los Angeles" is their most metal-flavored album :thumbup1:
