It's Right to Rebel! is proud to announce the opening of the Cultural Revolution Archive! The Archive is open to the public at http or https://irtr.org/cra/
IRTR's Cultural Revolution Archive was initiated in the beginning of 2006 in order to provide primary sources for revolutionaries and researchers who desire to expand their understanding of the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution. Our goal is to eventually become the single most comprehensive online archive covering this most liberating event in humyn history.
As of April 21, 2006, the archive contains almost a year of Beijing Review issues from 1972 and 1973. Hundreds of pages have been scanned in, spell-checked and turned into Web pages and searchable PDF files. Much more is already scanned in and waiting to be put online. We hope that this Internet resource will contribute to the struggle against revisionism.
Eventually, the Cultural Revolution Archive hopes to include all of the following:
1. Beijing Review spanning the entire period of the GPCR, 1966 through 1976.
2. Beijing Review leading up to the GPCR.
3. Essays and writings of political leaders who were active during the GPCR.
4. Recordings of songs, operas and other media from the GPCR.
5. Documents from the 9th, 10th and 11th (revisionist) Congresses of the Chinese Communist Party.
6. Examples of documents written by the new bourgeoisie who rose within the Communist Party itself.
7. Essays and commentary by members and friends of It's Right to Rebel! (https://irtr.org).
8. Translations of materials in languages other than english.
Some have asked how they can contribute to the Archive.
1. Donating relevant materials, for example, Beijing Reviews or other primary sources to the archive. Contact the Archive before purchasing anything for it. We may already have the materials but have not gotten around to digitizing them and uploading them yet.
2. Acquiring relevant materials and digitizing them yourself, and then donating the files to the Archive. Again, before you acquire or spend time digitizing material that the Archive does not have online, contact the Archive and ask whether the Archive already has the materials. Also, ask for scanning instructions.
How do I use the Archive? Giving credit where credit is due
The Cultural Revolution Archive is an all-volunteer non-profit project. Material in the public domain can be freely distributed, but in the interest of fairness, credit should be given to IRTR for scanning these documents and transcribing them. It should be noted that the public domain documents on IRTR will have some errors in them as part of the scanning process. Where some documents are too faded in places, IRTR has done its best approximation of the original texts. IRTR requests that those who use this archive give credit, even for public domain documents, where credit is due and cite the IRTR Archive. All original IRTR material in this archive is copyright 2006 by IRTR. It can be freely reproduced for non-profit purposes so long as credit for writing, translation and commentary is given with a link to the IRTR Cultural Revolution Archive. For bibliographies, just include the link as you would in any other online reference. For online citations, include the following, "It's Right to Rebel! Cultural Revolution Archive" and "https://irtr.org/cra/". You might need to include the entire link for the particular document you are citing.
Special thanks to the comrades who have made this happen!
