View Full Version : Socialized Medicine Will Open Eyes of Middle Class

Recent political protest on Immigration issues have demonstrated how the next big issue, medical coverage for all, iw possible.

I believe this will occur as sure as God made the state of Georgia. It's coming and it's real.

Soon, workers of every stripe will demand their coming children will have pre-natal care and regular check ups. The fruit is ready to drop on this one.

One of the interesting reactions the middle class in America will have to come to terms with is the waiting room.

Most Americans who have health insurance have a health care provider. This is of course, a hospital, with various offices are exam rooms for various needs.

Right now, the middle class sees (for the most part) only members of its own class. It's money has segregated it from a large underclas who do the dirty work and get a "dirty" health care.

But this would change under socialized medicine. While an upper middle class can afford private schools, most can't. It will be the same with healthcare, and members of the middle class will have to, God forbid, wait in a room with the masses.

That will be an eye opener, and unlike their current situation, they will not be able to escape hanging out with the masses.

Out of sight; out of mind has for too long been the rule of the day for government medicine.

I only know you have a single plan for the kingdom.

Am I correct that you all have cards and you use these for a doctor you choose yourselves.

If my view is incorrect, I'm sorry I don't know better.

It is possible this waiting room thing I speak of is something that doens't mean anything to you in your system.

Here, we pay for the health service via our taxes. We do have a choice of which hospital we are treated. It's an OK system, but it is terribly top-heavy, with far more managers than real staff such as doctors and nurses.

I've been in waiting rooms of all shapes and sizes and you do indeed see individuals from all strati of society.

It's one of the view areas in "social democratic" systems that actually is functionally social democratic (exclusing the super-rich of course).

Nationalized healthcare in the US? I don't see that happening any time soon. What's more realistic would be a raise in the minimum wage so they can tell everyone to shut the fuck up.

Can you believe 40 million are uninsured in the US? I can't. That's a disgrace. They better do something although they most likely won't. dying on the streets and human rights are very popular in the US, Tom Cruise's baby is a much more pressing matter.

Sick isn't it? The worlds richest country, a country that 'spreads democracy' with the gun to 'improve' the lives of Iraqis doesn't give a shit about its own poor never mind anyone else around the world. I curse this capitalist system in flames.
