Speaking to the First Latin American Youth Congress, in July 1959, he stated: ‘These people [of Cuba] you see today tell you that even if they should disappear from the face of the earth because an atomic war is unleashed in their names ...they would feel completely happy and fulfilled....’

I have heard that Che wanted to launch the nuclear missiles to attack the United States of America. I'm a bit split on the issue, myself being an American.

One side of me is the obvious survival side. I wouldn't want America to be nuked because that'd be myself, my friends, and my family killed.
However, I can understand why Che would support an attack. The amount of people killed in a nuclear attack would probably be less than the amount of people killed directly (or even indirectly) by America in the long run (war, puppet dictators, weapons training, and of course capitalism).

Please note that I said that I can understand... not support.

Well besides for the fact that Cuba and America were and are enemies, there wasn't much reason besides start an all out nuclear war.

I'm sure that Che would've supported a nuclear response had the US invaded in force. I remember that he was extremely angry when the USSR backed down and had wanted the missiles to be controlled by the Cubans rather than the Soviets.

He told The Socialist Worker, a newspaper in the UK that, if the Cuban's had control of the missiles and the US attempted another invasion / coúp, he would have launched them himself.

He stated that, if the proletariat in Cuba were to be incinerated in the ashes of Nuclear conflict, it would be better than living exploited by the United States.

I would absolutely support nuking the US as long as it was targeted towards people of power and not random nuking of everything.

Nuclear weapons don't discrimante on wealth or class. It would've been impossible for the Cubans to direct attacks only against the ruling power without affecting the poor.

Actually, I think Che really wanted to do this.

In 1962, Kruschev was afraid of the US, and wanted to remove the missiles from Cuba, but Raul and Che wanted to fire the missiles at the US and start a war.

If I am not mistaken (which I might be) Fidel was the one who was the most angry about the Soviet removal of missiles. Actually I know that he still is, and now that the USSR is no more he can express his feelings more openly.

I am honestly glad that the nuclear missiles were not launched during the Cuban missile crisis, because USA would naturally 'shoot back' to Cuba first, and also to USSR from Turkey. After that point, world would be in a 'Total Nuclear War' with pretty much every rival country nuking each other.
