The nation of Berringsland has been shook to its foundations by one of the most dramatic changes in its history. After months of bloody fighting the National Party regime has been overthrown by the forces of the December Revolutionaries, and years of dictatorship has been brought to an end. However this is not the end of Berringsland’s difficulties, likely it is only the beginning; counter-revolutionary groups cling on and wage a guerrilla war from the wilds of the North and the urban jungles of the inner cities, the economy has been devastated and much essential infrastructure lies in ruins. After years of repression and stagnation the populace is crying out for change and becomes ever more frustrated with continuing hardships.
Out of the chaos that ensued the revolution stepped Reginald .C. Fitzwilliam, the one time Governor-General of Berringsland, although one who has spent most of his career in exile in New Zealand. Together with the leaders of the revolution and the People’s Army he has thrown Berringsland a lifeline, a last chance to win peace, order and good government. A Provisional Assembly, due to meet in the quiet backwater town of Madaline, will be made of delegates from across the land, mandated to steer the nation back towards its rightful path.
