Well, allthough it may be a "decoy" (fake name) TOOL has announced their new album name to be 10,000 Days, and it will come out 2. May, I think.
For those of you who haven't listened to Tool, I can really recommend it. They are artists who manage to play for the music instead of the money, or so it seems to me. Examples are that almost none of their songs can be played in the radio because of their lengths and/or not very "pop" content.
The single called Vicarious will be able to be heard in radios in the US today, though you can also download it from various places. It's very cool.
Anyways, are you looking forward to this album? Why/why not?

Yes, I am looking forward to it, because "Lateralus" was fucking awesome (one of the best albums I've ever heard) and it's been a long five year wait for this.

I'm super excited for the new album because new album means new tour. I've never had the pleasure of a tool concert but my friend did and said it was the most incredible exsperience ever.

I just heard Vicarious, it was awsome, not as good as some of ther other stuff (nothing beats hooker with a penis) but very good all the same.

I thought the same. But it kind of grows on you, like all of Tools stuff.
I like the song more and more each time I hear it.

Yeah it's deffernatly more a Lateralus sound compared to Aenema, Maynards voice has also become more course.

I'm really, really, really excited about this. I'm a huge Tool fan (I own all their albums) and I have a tattoo of the Lateralus eye to boot. I've had Vicarious for a couple days and I love it. I can't wait.

I've listened to Vicarious, too. It is a nice song,it reminds me of AEnima but also ...I don't know another song...Anyway,the lyrics..they are really depressing, almost like pressure.
On distortion online there are already the lyrics to all songs on the album and its name is defenitely 10, 000 days. ;)

Well, I can tell you this album does not sound like anything they have done before.
And damn people who throw away good music after listening through it once (or less than ten times...)
But it is their loss.

Holy shit...I just picked up 10000 days and it is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. It's probaly just the novelty talking but this album is by far better the Lateralus and Aneima. Personally I think the largest progresion in their music for this album was the lyrics. The vocals are much more to the for front and much stronger then ever before. It is much easier to listen to then some of their early stuff but still gets your heart raceing.
Horray for early realeseing pirates

I like it better than Lateralus too, although Aenima will always hold a special place in my heart for introducing me to Tool.

Yep, I happen to have heard the album as well. Friend downloaded it. Anyway, it's pretty cool. At the moment I think it might be inferior to AEnima/Lateralus which I consider masterpieces, but I still find that it is "Tool-caliber" and one of the best albums I've ever heard. I also have to admit its continually growing on me and I find myself listening to it more and more. Its definitely a different "vibe" for Tool but its pretty cool.

Why dose he have to stuff a very good album by making references to god all the time ?
And it don't sound like he is being at all cynical to me. Apart that is great, especially the last half of the CD.

Many songs in this album, seem to, lyrically, be about Maynard James Keenans mother, Judith Rose (I think her name is (funny, both Judith and Rose are APC songs) who is a christian. I think. The referances to christianity and God is in most cases indirect criticism. In other cases it is just that MJK often writes lyrics in a deep manner, so as one could give them plural meanings. This often gives them a sense of mysticism, some could percieve it as religious I guess.
They have said officially that they are not religious. But one could say they are spiritual or philosophical.

I'm with Ian on this one. I liked Aenima and Lateralus although I never bought them and my neighbour has just bought 10,000 days. Sucks the big one. Trendy emotive crap in place of anthems and the very rare thing which is good prog.
Anthemic prog... guess that's a hard act to maintain! Impossible it seems.

I liked it.

Errr.... Tool have never been big on Anthams and have always put in "Trendy emotive crap".
This album runs on a similar format as all the other ones, so I fail to see the legitimacy your critisism.
But I don't like it as much, its Ok. But its no Anemia, the songs just aren't as good.

Tool albums are growers, even if you don't like it much at first you definitely need to give it a chance to sink in. (That happens to me sometimes a lot. For instance: I bought the album OK Computer and for eight months I thought it was the most overrated piece of shit ever. Then it suddenly clicked with me and I came to love it).
I don't see how they're trendy emotive crap at all. Compare Tool to most other popular rock bands out there today...

I would say that this albums happens to be the most beautiful one they ever made since it is so lyrical and melodical.I can listen to every track without skipping, the other albums they had before had enough tracks I couldn't listen to till the end.
But Maynard's voice seems to be more emotional here and thats not bad at all.

I thought A Perfect Circle's first two albums were great. Not on the level of Tool but still pretty good. However I thought eMotive was a shitty fucking album.

It was directed at "people who throw away good music after listening through it once".
I can understand why people do this though. Western culture isn't exactly jammed full with geniouses.
But it was not necessarily directed towards you. People can have different tastes in music. But you got to admit, Tool have got skill.
And I didn't like Tool the first times I listened to it, didn't seem to manage to seperate the different parts, etc. But it grew on me, now I love most of their work.

Well I have it, I think my favorite track is The Pot, I don't think his voice is anymore emotianal they've just put it infront of the music rather than behind it, catch my drift??

Love it.
I've had the (naughty) unmastered version for a few weeks now (can't wait to get the real version with stereo glasses!) and every listen just makes it better.
I am still trying to figure out what Maynard is saying in the song 10, 000 Days... Very interesting indeed.
gah will wait for it to come out in aus...
I think it is already out.
I am pretty sure that there was international release on may day (for obvious reasons).
Re: god stuff.
Yes Maynard's mother Judith is a born again christian. Maynard grew up in the central American bible belt and resents the way in which the local church took advantage of his disabled mother.
I mean you can't really mistake the meaning behind the APC song Judith.
"fuck your god! your lord! your christ!"
I would agree that some members of Tool, Danny Carey in particular, are spiritual.
But that does not mean that they are in any way religious.

My girlfriend bought it for me, and it's really fucking amazing. That 3D art on the cover is incredible, and 10,000 days (the song) is a brilliant commentary on organized religion. My favourite song on the album (for now) has to be Jambi though.
[Here from / If in] the king's mountain view
[Here from / If in] the wild dream come true
Feast like a sultan, I do
On treasures and flesh never few
But I would wish it all, away
If I thought I'd lose you just one day
The devil and his has me down
In love with the dark side I've found
Dabblin' all the way down
Up to my neck soon to drown
But you changed that all for me
Lifted me up, turned me round
So I, I would wish this all away
[Pray / Prayed] like a [martyr / father] [does / dusk] to dawn
Beg like a hooker all night long
Shout to the devil with my song
And got what I wanted all along
But I
I would
If I could
I would
Wish it away
Wish it away
Wish it all away
Wanna wish it all away
No [pressure could / ? ] hold sway
[Or / On / Hold] just a fine line
[Giving / Kneeling] away, my center
So if I could I'd wish it all away
If I thought tomorrow, they'd take you away
You're my piece of mind,
[my own / my all]
I said I'm just trying to hold on
One more day
[Damn my eyes / Jambi!]
[Damn my eyes / Jambi!]
[Well / If] they should compromise
A fulcrum
[What you need / Watching me]
[if I need / if I leave / divide me]
Then I might as well be gone...
Shine on forever
Shine on benevolent sun
Shine down upon the broken
Shine [on 'til / until] the two become one
Shine on forever
Shine on benevolent sun
Shine down upon the severed
Shine [on 'til / until] the two become one
[Divide and wither away
/ Divided, withering away
/ Divide, I'm withering away
/ Divide, I wither away]
Shine down upon the many, light our way,
Benevolent sun.
Breathe in union
So, as one, survive
Another day and season
Silently, just [say / save] your poison
Silently, just stay out of my way
