now we see, the true hypocritical nature of the US.. they oppose the ICC because people could easily bring a case against them. Torture, Iraq, immigration, etc, and Im probably missing some too.

We see how they ***** continuously about freedom, democracy, and human rights, but when it comes to this, what then?

Yep, it is pretty hypocritical: "all the evil-doers should be brought to justice" -- except if they're American.

Bush's and Clinton's argument is that they prefer a specialised court for one specific case (such as the Charles Taylor case or the trial of that chick who did the abuses in Abu-Ghraib), instead of an International Tribunal.

As long as justice is being done, i don't care...but i do think that an International Criminal Court would be a good thing for Internationalism.

I believe that Tupac hit this one perfectly: It is the fear of internationalsim that is what's on the minds of the Clinton-Bush administrations.

Remember, we have had (in the U.S.) about 230 years of supreme U.S. law. We even have a clause in our Consitution regarding this. Art. II of the Constitution identifies the Supreme Court as the end all-be all of U.S. law.

Of course, a treaty can be made which will incorporate such laws into U.S. laws, BUT, THE SUPREME COURT HAS RULED THAT NO TREATY MAY BE CONTRA TO THE CONSITUTION.

Where people fall on this often depends on their personal views. Do I want a Syrian or Iranian judge ruling on my alleged criminal actions? Hell no! At least, not in the current historical-political climate.

The problem here is that when a person becomes accused of a crime, they will, by nature support that law which gives them their greatest advantage. No one is willing to "take one" for the future of Internationalism.

Everyone writing here included. It's the one thing I won't believe anyone about. If you get accused of a crime, and are an American, you'll want American justice. If you were ruled not guilty in an American court, PLEASE DON'T PRETEND you would not fight being extradited to the ICC. I won't believe you.
