But where did this scar come from?

Injury during the Guerrilla War?

I have read a lot, by and of Che, and there is no record of it. Oddly, in his diaries, there is no mention of something that, on the face of it, is a pretty serious injury.

We'll never know now anyway.

It would have been a rather open wound, and not a scar, if it was what killed him.

It is on the left side of the back. So I assume the scar comes from a single accident. Or perhaps two.


I am pretty sure he was shot in the chest and in the neck the first time. They resulted in superficial wounds. Then, I believe I remember he was shot in the leg.

During the bay of pigs, he managed to shoot himself in the face. Another superficial wound.
This was all in Cuba.


I don't think he was shot in Congo.

Then in Bolivia, I believe he was shot in the arm, and in the lower calf.

And then several shots when he was executed.

I'd say it was either during battle or once he was captured the gaurds beat him.

How do you get a scar by being beaten just a few minutes ago? A scar appears after a while, doesn't it?

But in the most common pictures after his physical death, his eyes are open... Did they close his eyes? It seems strange that his eyes are like closed, then open then closed.

I don't think he was captured and killed in a matter of minutes. I think they had someone come over to verify him and it took a couple of days.
