Well i don't have Pay TV but i go to my grandpa's every now and then and he has it, i used to watch MTV like mad, sure i was young but there was variety there, it was awesome, anyway not long ago i went back to my pa's an turned on MTV. and was like what the hell is this? Where is the freaking music? sure i wasn't a fan of the mainstream stuff to start with but WHERE WAS THE MUSIC? what the hell has happened? i thought MTV was for music TV, yet i was confronted with reality, and crap. What is this coming to? i gave up on my normal radio station not long ago cause of the same thing, music just wasn't getting air time. GRRRR what the hell.

I think the Dead Kennedy's "MTV Get Off the Air" is much more to the point.

MTV is very popular with teens, and consequently so are realty shows. So take the two and you get a higher teen turnout. MTV is actually also plagued by commercials, especially my country's version of MTV-Much Music.

MTV fuckin sucks. Yeah back in the 80s it was about great hard rock/metal. Now its all about whiny teens with their shitty soap operas. Watch one episode of the Real World and you'll know what I mean. That and theres those fuckin dumbass dating shows. I wish they would've stuck with the music.

You shouldn't be watching eMpTyV anyway, why the hell would you expect anything good to come from them.

Honestly, canada has a really bad version of MTV. Worst of all is Quebec's version. Its in french and they have only half hour a day of new songs.
Music has become way to capitalist anyway, Some is good, like SOAD
i just prefer to not listen to other music

Lol - in all the years of having MTV available to me, I've never seen SOAD played
MTV doesn't really deserve the appelation any more, I can't remember the last time I actually saw music being played on there as I skipped past it as I aimed for the Kerrang channel (well at least they DO play SOAD ).

I fucking love MTV in spite of everything that's wrong with it: Back when I was 15, my family spent a weekend going tubing in the St. Lawrenece with some friends of ours in an upstate NY town about 10 miles away from my Ontario border town: I had MTV on just for the Hell of it, and I heard Du Hast for the first time...I've loved Rammstein ever since...So while I know there's tons wrong with MTV, I have a hard time not loving it even though I've only had one experience with it.

Ok, don't feel bad chances are it isn't just Canada that has bad TV. I'm thinking it's a internationally reknowned thing. But how good were the days when MTV was good, it was quite some time ago now i know, but still. Some fond memories, Seein my first Slipknot vid, Watching my first Rage against the Machine vid, these are but a few, anyone else have a fond "when MTV was alright" memory?

There's ONE "redeeming" show on MTV Brazil - it actually shows underground bands performing live... once there was also a show about the "B-Side" of music.
Too bad nobody who's actually fond of MTV never stays up too late to see that king of program...
