I could not believe it when I heard about this, the President is actually trying to get people to worship him, and created a "holy," book, for the Turkmenistan. You don't have to read very far to see the lunancy.

"This book, written with the help of inspiration sent to my heart by the God who created this wonderful universe I wrote this book containing the nation spirit, its morality and historical immortality. My dear Turkmen nation, in order to urge your soul and mind to fulfill these duties an to raise a strong faith in your heart for self-confidence, and to be a support to you, I have written this book, Ruhnama. You are the meaning of my life and source of my strength."-Chapter 1, Ruhnama.

"God gave my nation two special qualities: SPIRITUAL RICHNESS and COURAGE.
As a light for their road, God also strengthened their spiritual and mental capacity with the ability to recognize the realities behind events. After that He gave His servants the following general name: TURK IMAN (made from light). The turkmen nation came to this world in this way."-Chapter 1, Ruhnama.

"Worship him" seems to be putting it too strongly; but regarding him as a kind of "junior prophet" in the Muslim tradition seems about right.

It will be a useful cult in the pursuit of a "greater Turkmenistan"...there are quite a few of these folks scattered across the Near East (including northern Iraq!).

One good thing you can say about his otherwise shithole country: he doesn't permit Hare Krishna cultists to solicit donations in the main airport terminals.

well, pretty much all of the "Muslim Belt" countries, are pretty backwords compared to the rest of the world, these are probably the farthest out countries from the sea, they are surrounded by vast lunar landscapes, they are pretty backwords people. In fact i saw a documentary in Discovery Times Channel, in Kyrgyztan they practice something called "bride kidnapping", it's so fucking weird hahaha, but scary at the same time, you can actually kidnap a young girl to marry her. It's crazy.

I admire this man. I really do. He created an absolutely absurd cult of his personality. Oh, he`s cool :D

By the way, he says that everyone that will read this book 3 times will become smart, will understand the nature, the laws and will go right to paradise. I guess because of boredom

In March 2006 Niyazov was recorded as saying that he had interceded with Allah to ensure that any student who reads the book three times would automatically get into paradise.

Yeah okay...at least its not suicide bombers, right?
