I sincerely hope Bush loses the war. Not because i rejoice at seeing american troops die or anything, but because that will fuck his chances of being re-elected by 2004.
But seeing how he got elected in the first place... one never knows.

I have been saying this from the beginning, anybody who has actually studied the history of Iraq knows that the US is in for a hard time. There would be no nine day wonder.The longer the war goes on,
the worse things will get as unlike recent wars the lack of UN support will prove to be an unsurmountable problem. There is no room for a credible broker.
There might be a victory in war,if things go well for the US but Rummy is a blatant incompetent who will let polls dictate rather than military sense. But there will be no victory in 'peace'. The occupying force will always be resisted. The Iraqi and the Palestinians will feel as one, peoples without a homeland.

Can you igive some links on Iraqi history? I am fairly well versed in ancient Iraq, but the last 2000 years is a bit shaky for me.

I just love the way Rumsfeld appeared on TV yesterday to deny that he overuled plans by senior Officers to commit more troops before initiating the war.

I recall reading an article in the Independent Newspaper before the war which hilighted the clash of opinion between Rumsfeld and and his senior army officers. It also stated that the current war plan was advocated by Rumsfeld. If it was successful then it would've been his personal success. However, if it failed, then he would lay the blame on the generals for the poor execution of his plan.

Don't you just love that guy.

i am sick to death of people saying they hope bush looses the war

does any one of you have any comprehension of what will happen to iraq and its people if saddam gets his vengence??
all this in the name of stopping bush being re-elected! thats fuckin shit. i dont give a shit what bush does or doesnt do but if he walks away from this then god help the people of iraq and SOME people here will be celebrating that because it will mean bush isnt re-elected.
