Can anyone tell me (other than the soviet union) what their politics were after marxism- wold they have just wanted for Britain today democratically run workplaces and an increased welfare state? Cheers

No, there is a big difference between socialism and the welfare state. The welfare state still has the old bourgeoisie in power, the workers are just kept quiet because they get some social services. Under socialism people will own the means of production together and provide for themselves, instead of relying on the paternalistic bourgeois exploiters.

The welfare state is akin to a generous slave master. The slaves might be treated well, but the are slaves none the less.

Thanks, but thats not what I'm asking - I'm asking about the group "socialism or barbarism" - and know that some of them were pro welfare state, ex Marxists - I wasn wondering what they actually wanted (towards when they split up). To refine that slightly - what Lefort's politics are now.
