Hi, I'm a leftist. What a great "hook" sentence that was. I would describe myself as a secular humanist and a rationalist, but I definitely have deep left tendencies (which I think are entirely rational).

Here's my political compass:

Economic Left/Right: -7.00
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.72

So, I'm left of conventional politics. My views on "abstract art" (art that is just sort of there and doesn't represent anything) and my hesitance to have a government-run television network probably shifted my points to the right. Plus the fact that I don't believe my perfect left-leaning world should exist if the rest of the world dislikes my views, making me economically libertarian on some issues. I (sarcastically) apoligize if this offends you. When I feel like insulting people on internet forums, I say I'm an "Armchair Anarchist", which is a funny oxymoron, but this being RevLeft, there are people who think it's a legitimate philosophy.

I'm a fan of Noam Chomsky, and consider him to be Incredibly Rational. I never look at his sources, but he seems to cite thousands of them. I'd say about 25% of his work is just quoting other people, so I implicitly trust him. I have an autographed (by NC) copy of the Chomsky Reader, and that's pretty nifty...

So I'm not necessarily a communist or an anarchist nowadays, but I definitely don't see myself being any further right than "democratic socialist."

My main goal in life is to contribute something. Being more artistic than anything (although I can stay awake in english, social studies, and computer science), it will probably be art. Art meaning a novel, film, play, animation, or some such thing. Yeah, I have a "head" for math and natural science, but absolutely no desire to use it. Programming's neat though.

I wanted to be comprehensive in my introduction, and I feel I have covered everything important. Perhaps more than that.

So...how are you?
