I didn't want to start a new thread merely to introduce myself, so I grabbed the nearest one.

Hello to all.

I found this site recently and have been watching the discussions for a while now.

A little about myself. I am thirty-one, single, and live in "America." The extent of my formal education is the eleventh grade. I am a Carpenter by trade, musician, and "philosopher."

My philosophers of greatest interest are, in no particular order:

Kierkegaard
Nietzsche
Sartre
Feuerbach
Spinoza
Kant

...oh, and Frank Zappa. [laughing]

After a six year period of memberships at various philosophy forums, I have recently come to the conclusion that philosophy is dead. While I do, and am capable of, practicing philosophy, I do not feel that it serves any other means than that of achieving human solidarity through Marxist ideology. Anything else I call floundering, rhetorical wastes of time, and word games. Philosophy is, as Sartre once called it, a reaction to economic circumstance and class distinction. All post-structuralist attempts at anything philosophical are simply useless meandering and philosophy can serve no other function than uniting people against oppression.

So be it.

:huh: I would not be so excited if I were you nazis are known to frequent here yes but all of their posts are deleted to the trash can. There were some people from stormfront (a big neo nazi site) that decided to cause trouble awhile back but they were swiftly dealt with.

They do however show up from time to time to spew their racial hatred and some of us have argued with them on their site as well most of us were banned not long after we joined up.

where I live there are nazis, but most are not reallly nazis, just a bunch of ignorants rednecks, but there is still a somewhat strong kkk presence in the countryside.
