An SAS soldier has refused to fight in Iraq and has left the Army over the "illegal" tactics of United States troops and the policies of coalition forces.

After three months in Baghdad, Ben Griffin told his commander that he was no longer prepared to fight alongside American forces.

He said he had witnessed "dozens of illegal acts" by US troops, claiming they viewed all Iraqis as "untermenschen" - the Nazi term for races regarded as sub-human.

Very unusual to have a name and photograph of a suppossed SAS operative. He should remember though that it's not just the ongoing atrocities and ineptness of the Americans that are illegal but the whole war itself.

Still, an excellent piece of news to use against those who are pro-war over here. The SAS are stil pretty well respected (being solid, double-hard bastards :P), and for one of their number to quit for this reason is excellent ammunition. Made a lot of people today stop and think a bit - nice find Red :D

If you ask me that soldier's a feckin hypocrite as the whole war is illegal and the Brits have always used 'illegal tactics'. Why did he get involved at all if he’s so concerned with the legalities of their tactics? The British are no role models when it comes to human rights and tactics used by their forces and are complicit in the American led war.
