(Spoken:)
D.J., put a record on
I wanna dance with my baby
Do you like to boogie-woogie
Do you like to boogie-woogie
Do you like to boogie-woogie
Do you like my Acid Rock
Hey Mister D.J. put a record on
I wanna dance with my baby
And when the music starts
I never wanna stop
It's gonna drive me crazy
Musicx10
Chorus:
Music makes the people come together [never gonna stop]
Music makes the bourgeoisie and the rebels [never gonna stop]
Don't think of yesterday and don't look at the clock
I like to boogie-woogie, uh, uh
It's like ridin' on the wind
And it never goes away
Touches everything I'm in
Got to have it every day
(chorus)
Hey Mister D.J.
Do you like to boogie-woogie
Do you like to boogie-woogie
Do you like to boogie-woogie
Do you like my Acid Rock
Hey Mister D.J. put a record on
I wanna dance with my baby
And when the music starts
I never wanna stop
It's gonna drive me crazy
Uh, uh, uh
(chorusx2)
What the hell is that supposed to mean? Music is what causes the class struggle according to Madonna?
What are your thoughts on this?

its whatever sells/gets to a new audience, fills time so the song can be long enough.
Madonna will be whatever pays best, be it a jew or a hooker.

Madonna is a Kabbalist, which is some sort of religious cult, so i doubt it.

It was one of the enduring/sickening moments in the Live8 farce when Madonna shouted to the crowd 'when's the revolution starting.'
Surely when the 'revolution' starts Madonna had better run for the hills with all the rest of these ultra-rich, pro-market saviours of the poor.
When Orwell penned 1984 he forgot to include 'the rich are the saviours of the poor.'

Plus I doubt Madonna writes most/any of her lyrics now days anyways.

I think its another cynical attempt to turn communism/revolution into a fashion statement in the hope that itll become 'last seasons' big thing.
I remember here in the UK all the big fashion people were producing 'Cuba' and 'USSR' hoodies.

Doesent it mean that music (hers) will bring together obviously diverging groups (rebel sand borgoisie). ISnt that the idea of the song in the first place? I dotn think Maddona is a closet Communist any more than Bill Gates ro whatever. Maddonna cannot be held responsible for what she sings, her song writes do it all for her...she preobly doesnt even read them over.

Even if she were a closet communist opposed to the bourgeoisie, judging by her actions she would be quite the hypocrite. I have a hard time believing anyone on MTV or E! has much interest in a proletarian revolution.

Madonna is clearly a closet communist. Indeed she's so good at keeping her commie ways secret that she has to live in a big house, make millions from terrible music and join some cult :o

Yeah, because the idea of "the bourgeoisie and the proletariat giving up on class struggle, sitting in a circle and singing Kumbaya" is totally pro-communist.
The position of celebrities on communism doesn't really matter, in my opinion, unless they turn their words into action, and actually show the world that they ARE communists, and that they MEAN it, and that they're actually willing to make a revolution. Jane Fonda(nothing to do with Madonna of course, but still...) sitting on Vietnamese AA was cute and all, but it became meaningless when she apologised, and eventually of course she ended up a liberal born-again Christian.

I had a conversation about this with a friend quite recently. Actual it was more of a rant about Madonna and her reactionary bullshit. The lyrics, can at best, be seen as non-sensical bullshit. I can not derive one meaning from this song that could be pro-revolutionary, and any attempts to look make me hate it more.
On a side note, this song is also terrible in its role a noise. It makes me ashamed of possessing ears

Two in the knees, one in the gut, let her suffer a bit, then one in the spine.
The "material girl" has had it coming for far too long.

On this thread.
Seriously, what the fuck?
She changes according to the market, and saying something that is pseudo-progressive is a part of it.
Look at it this way, she is worse than a sellout, as she never had any DIY credentials to sellout on...

Funnily enough this isn't the first 'Is Madonna a communist' thread. One was made a few years ago after she released an album with cover art very much like the Korda photo of Che

When I´ve posted this thread, I was being sarcastic. I´m pretty sure that Madonna doesn´t come close to be a leftist, but it was fun to see the people´s reaction.

The plot thickens! Now we have 2 pieces of evidence!
I have another theory, Red Hot Chili Peppers are obviously communist, Red being the communist colour and Chili being an allusion to Allende's Chile...

You're probably being sarcastic, but I like the Chilli Peppers, but I can find no political lyrics of any description. My guess is that they're with the rest of the self-righteous celebrities who are like "We care so much about the poor we vote Democrat/Labour!" like the Foo Fighters.
Talking of these, I'm surprised that Dave Grohl has sold himself and his (don't laugh, it's true) Washington Punk scene roots down the river; to vote Democrat. Honestly, what would Kurt say? (Kurt being infinitely better and more intelligent musician).

RHCP are good, I'm just taking the piss.
Dave Grohl is an idiot, when he was recently called the most influential musician of his generation I felt sick.

I'm a big fan of RHCP and green heaven is perhaps one of their songs that looks the closest at society but to be completely honest with you, though they had some social compassion, they are not closet communists. Infact that are linked to the Democrats and they even played a gig to promote Kerry if I remember correctly.
As for grohl, he sucks. He is nothing without Cobain telling him exactly what to play. Btw, I'm also a big Nirvana fan but you have to accept that Kurt was the driving force and everything had to be his way, which was obviously the best way and I'm ashamed that grohl didn't go the way Kurt had guided him. Foos are fucking sellouts and have died the same death that blink182 and greenday have, they were all okay to start off now they suck, imo :P

accept that Kurt was the driving force and everything had to be his wa
It's universally accepted that Kurt Cobain was the main driving force behind Nirvana, no one has ever disputed that
without Cobain telling him exactly what to play
 I don't think Kurt ever told Grohl, the drummer of the band, "exactly what to play"
everything had to be his way, which was obviously the best way
 Of course
and I'm ashamed that grohl didn't go the way Kurt had guided him
Actually, he's followed Cobain's ideas pretty well - building up a devoted indie following on a friendly label then departing for mainstream glory
