Is this what the Leftist movement has degraged into?

Perhaps there is no one perfect formula for Socialism. Perhaps the works of Engel, Marx, Lenin, Mao, Che and so forth can be applied to different places under different circumstances.

Perhaps, just perhaps, certain places would react better to socialist reform than open protracted people's war? And perhaps other places would react better to violent rebellion than political stagnation?

Perhaps some countries have a larger peasant and farmer population than industrialized workers? Perhaps certain countries rely more on the Hammer than the Sickle?

I have experienced, just on this board, more ignorance, elitism, prejudism and stagnation than I ever thougth possible outside of a Racist-oriented, hate-breeding group. To see Leftists ridicule, mock, argue with and insult one another to the extent I have seen here is overwhelmingly disheartening -- especially considering it is over mere differences of opinion on the ideology we have all come here to share our loyalty for.

Because one man believes in the way of the gun does not mean the man who believes in the way of the social reform is wrong, and vice versa. Different aspects of Socialism can be applied to different areas, wherever needed -- because I can assure you, that no one system of Communism will ever, ever bind the thousands of different ideologies together under one roof. Only tolerance, understanding, and the acceptance of the need for Unity can do that. And that is one thing that this movement seems to be lacking the most.

To all the Strikers: Strike!
To all the Marchers: March!
To all the Protesters: Protest!
To all the Fighters: Fight!
To all the Reformers: Reform!
Unity - We are all under the same flag.

That's because we have very different ideas of what it means to be a "leftist".

Someone who just says "oh, I'm a leftist" doesn't mean anything to me at all...until I find out something about what they really think about things.

Remember that there's no "intellectual property rights" to political labels...people can call themselves any damn thing they feel like.

One of the most continually acrimonious subjects on this board revolves around whether or not a self-chosen label is an accurate description of what they really think.

There's no problem with reformists who admit to being exactly that. In my opinion, their era is over in the "old" capitalist countries...whereas it's just beginning in the "new" capitalist countries.

But reformists are never going to transform capitalism into communism...that just seems to be something that is flatly impossible.

The acrimony arises when people call themselves "revolutionaries" or "communists"...and yet behave like reformists.

That's where you're likely to see the most protracted "ridicule, mockery, and insulting"...because, I expect, self-image is at stake. People have a certain loyalty and even a strong emotional identification with famous revolutionary figures of the past...and like to think of themselves is being "like them" even though their actual ideas and political practice are no different from an ordinary open reformist.

When this is publicly pointed out, they react furiously...because, after all, their very "core identity" is being exposed as false.

They think it is outrageous that their rhetoric should be compared with their actual practice...and that the differences should be pointed out.

I can only suggest to you that you should not be "disheartened" by this acrimony...it seems to be part of the overall historical process of "preparing" for revolution. However bitter these arguments seem to be, the end result may be a clarification of what it actually means to be revolutionary in the new century.

We have an enormous pile of 20th century crap to dispose of...and it really is "a dirty job".

But we have to do it. :)

It is a shame that not many people will read your post Ernest.

It is indeed unfortunate that the so called ''marxists'', ''leninists'', ''stalinists'', ''trotskyists'' and the rest of their dogmatic variants have become one of the materialist forces that are keeping the movement stagnated.

Maybe some of our comrades need a glass window installed on their stomachs to somewhat be able to see through since their head is so far up their ideological anus.

I agree completely, as a Maoist I have different veiws of communism as a reformist, but let me say this, if a revolution were to take place in the name of reformism, well id be there with my comrades.

In other words you would take part in a bourgeois revolution?

I will never support reformism.
