Tax money goes to the government and they spend it on a shit load of things such as welfare, roads, hospitals, education, health, detention centers, prisons and Defense (there is more stuff but this is all I can think of for now). Therefore if you are paying tax to the American, British or Australian governments then you are helping fund the war on Iraq. I hate the fact that the money, that I have worked for, is being spent on things that I do not support.

there was this dude who refused to pay his taxes because he didn't believe in the causes it was used for. I forget the deatils though.
there are different taxes though: state, federal.. maybe some others. but see that re-paved road? tax dollars. that public school? tax dollars. those street signs? tax dollars. that park? tax dollars. of course, private donations are made, but largely, its all tax dollars. of course, the military receives a HUGE chunk. what was the figure for 2003? I think it was around 30% of the federal budget, though. while education, welfare... the wellbeing of citizens, is put low on the list, military is one of the top.

Ahh "Defense"; spelt differently in America, defined differently too it seems.
Nearly all money spent on American military is nearly always for aggression, not defence. If you were to have spent $1 million since the day Jesus walked the Earth you would still have not spent as much as America has spent on it's aggressive military. There is too much spend on wars that are not needed, the only way it is balanced out is by going into wars with an economical benefit. Too much spent on the defence and not enough spent on anything else, education and health, for example.
