if the iraqis had the initiative to create a rebellion, it would give JUSTIFICATION to the american soldiers.

we went in because WE hate saddam, not because IRAQ hates saddam.

You all make me laugh. Iraqis don't hate Saddam and his government, in contrary they do support so called "undemocratic" regime.
The struggle of Iraqis against agressors is the best prove for the statement above.

Kurds are not going to fight against Saddam, but they will struggle against turkish forces, which already have entered Iraq's Kurdistan.

Revolution was the best suited alternative too US intervention. Some argue that the people fear Saddam and would not dare revolt. I think the US Sanctions has made it hard for rebel groups to purchase weaponry. The only real threat to the groups would be the loyal Republican Guard (10,000 or so).

According to what I've read and seen on various sites, while there are a significant number of Iraqi's that hate Saddam, almost all of them are un-coordinated and have little to no access to weapons. The Ba'ath party apparatchiks are the ones who have the guns, and nobody ever remembers them when talking about force numbers.

Also, those that are vocally outspoken against Saddam or the Ba'ath party tend to get disappeared.
