I was reading the teachings of Kropotkin and Bakunin and noticed how similar there views were. But Bakunin was a Collectivist, Kropotkin a Communist. I tried to research what the difference was but had no luck. From what I gather, Collectivist believe in only abolishing private property of the means of production and Communist want to abolish ALL private property? Am I close? :)

Yes, it's true.
Communist and Collectivist are not necessarilly "against" each other. But they are a little different than each other. Most Communist's are against individualism, and so is collectivism.
I dont know about this so heres my question.
"Can you support both?"

As far as I understand it, collectivism is as you said: eliminating private ownership of production--meaning your iPod, etc are fine. :D
Communism, rather, is the abolition of all private property--I can use your iPod if I want to.
Correct me if I missed it totally. :P

I think an Ipod would be classified as personal property.
As far as definitions, I suspect that a collectivist is not any different from a communist. Rather, a collectivist is simply a communist who does not want to be a communist, so calls himself a collectivist. Just a guess.
Or maybe these labels are from back in the day when all communists wanted some sort of transitionary state. And since this is no longer the case, the definitions are the same. Again, just a guess.
