I am writing my final project on the socio-economic result of the washington consensus and i am looking for information about it. What are the exact results from it as figures if possible. I am mosly interested on the economic results after the consensus in the so called third world. If you recomend me some books that would be appreciated as well. The best I found so far is the reasearch on the washington consenus of fondad, which is downloadable at www.fondad.org.
Thank you

As far as I'm aware, the (main) economic effects of the so-called Washington consensus essentially amount to free trade agreements which both the Democrats and Republicans support. You can look at NAFTA, and now the proposed CAFTA (or is this one passed already?). From a business perspective, these agreements are quite profitable. From a laborer's perspective, these agreements are shit  .
In Howard Zinn's A People's History of the United States, chapter 21 (Carter-Reagan-Bush: The Bipartisan Consensus) deals with this very subject. You should consult it if you can. The book is readily available at most bookstores and libraries, so tracking it down shouldn't be hard. Plus, it's a damn good read.
