A situation has been building up in the Philippines. The Philiippine government is under a shaky foundation.

There are reports of a Left and Right alliance (that is Communist Party alliance with some rebel factions in the reactionary Military).

What do you think?

A state of emergency was declared, and was lifted recently. This followed cases of bombs being found around Manila, one of which was in a military academy.
Perhaps you were reffering to the protest by soldiers?they were unhappy that their commander would be replaced.it was reported that charges of conspiracy would be handed out to them.although im not sure there is such an alliance,i doubt it to be likely.
the gov are very afraid of the NPA.some backpackers were manhandled on suspicion of being their 'agents'.although they had nothing to do whatsoever.i've posted a link to a petition to free them in "practice" section.
im worried the situation will get bad and that country would turn into another police state in asean region (already made up of singapore, malaysia and myanmar)

While the declaration of state of emergency was lifted, the situation is getting worse. Militant and progressive organizations and personalities, media and other opposition groups are still under surveillance. In fact, five militant legislators are seeking custody in the Phil. Congress to evade arrest, they cannot get out of the building of Congress. The media is under pressure. Protests are banned and dispersed right away before the protesters can even assemble.

Yes, the alliance maybe just an illusion by the reactionary gov't, but this situation is not unlikely since the rebel soldiers are somewhat progressive in their statements. More than the relief of their commander, the rebel soldiers already staged a protest or, some call it, a failed coup attempt in 2003 or 2004 when they garrisoned a hotel and mall in the country's financial district. Some had even planned to join the protests this year during the anniversary of their people power that toppled their former dictator Marcos.

The political opposition is somewhat having an alliance with militant organizations. Even some religious groups are joining in the call for the removal of the country's President. A strong call for a transition government is being advocated by more and more people, which includes the leftists, rightists, even some socdem grouplets, the religious sectors and others.

The events is getting worse, but it creates a revolutionary situation. But, I think not yet a fundamental change but can advance further the revolutionary aims of the Filipino people.

Yeah, but I just thought the current situation today in that country would be something of interest.

Just like today, I've read from an online news from the Phils. that there is another legislator arrested when a protest-rally was held in commemoration of Internat'l Women's Day yesterday.

Such situation is worth studying since these may create some revolutionary situation.

It was not shot down. It was "shot down" in the same way as bourgeoisiwe, first world chauvinists, defeatist and other reactionaries "shot down" every revolution the world. Bascially they were all proven wrong and exposed to be fools who have a grudge against 3rd world movement.

You were actually exposed as a social imperialist in this case, so it is you who is shot down and exposed as a enemy of the proletariat.
