as a spinoff from the erlier iran post.
assuming that iran does not back down and america decides to invade iran will it be unilaterally (a.k.a. without the support of the international community) or will it be backed by isreal alone? or lastly will it have the brunt of the developed world behind it.
2ndly saying that america attacks with the help of isreal only, how would such a war unfold, give me details.

If this happens...
1. A Jewish state of Israel is toast
2. A whole bunch of brown people may help ignite a third world war. The variable is how eager China is to see it happen.

The biggest interest Bush and Cheney have in middle east oil is to ensure China doesn't procure it. Sooner or later, they're going to need it. The war was not about this war but about setting the terms of a future (cold?) war with China.

Israel will probably try a surgical strike. If Iran lashes back, let's hope the Arrow anti-missile system works, if it doesn't, bye-bye Tehran (assuming they use chemical munitions). Any use of chemical weapons will warrant a nuclear response. Event he use of conventional missiles might yield a nuclear response, depending on the party in power (Likud might choose to respond in said fashion, especially considering all the moderates left for Kadima).
If said airstrike fails, or isn't carried out (as the distances between Israel and Iran are so great, the fighter-planes would literally need to fly in a straight line too and fro, or risk running out of fuel. the targets are just within the limits of an F-15), America will probably drop the shoe on them.
Three weeks and Iran will be broken, although I doubt the Americans will go for pro-longed occupation. They'd be present for six months before declaring "mission accomplished" and leaving, in my mind. Iran is much more guerilla friendly than Iraq, and there is already a well developled fifth column of the Iranian armed forces present, and prepared (like the class on suicide missions held recently at T.U.).

well this is an interesting subject, and i studied Iran recently in a Comperative Politics class that i had...
well first of all, Iran has a theocratic and democratic system of government at the same time, in the end the one who decides how things are done in Iran including if they are going to go to war is the Ayatollah who is the Supbreme Leader, he decides the most important things in Iran.
anyway, if you look at things from an Iranian point of view, they have US presence in the east and west, Afghanistan and Iraq. Also we have a big big presence in the Gulf of Persia. One thing that is possible to ignite war specially at this moment since it is unfolding, is the possible civil war in Iraq between Sunni and Shiia. If the Shiia in Iraq become under danger, im sure the Supreme Leader of Iran will be under pressure from its people and the clerics to take action, this would be a scary thought since we all know of their nuclear capabilities at the moment, which by the way scares the living shit out of the Israelis lol.
but anyway, the US would be very cautious about this, i don't think we want to go see how deep the rabbit hole really goes, im sure that we don't want to get into another shithole. But if anything does happen, Isreal is a definate allie, and of course Britain. But let me say that Iran will be no easy victory like Iraq, they have like the 3rd biggest army in the world, and im sure they are better equipped than the Iraqis were, and also the people of Iran would defenitaly be more patriotic than the Iraqis, after all the Iraqis were under a very opressive dictatorship
