VENEZUELA-SOLIDARITY
Delegates from 80 Countries in
Solidarity Forum with Venezuela
By Javier Rodriguez
Caracas, Mar 18 (PL) Representatives from more than 80
countries will take part in the World Solidarity Forum with
the Venezuelan Bolivarian Revolution to be held from April
10 to 13 in this capital.
The event will take place at the time of the first
anniversary of the coup d'etat on April 11, 2002 and the
civilian-military response which put an end to the de-facto
government 48 hours later.
The organizing committee said the gathering is a response
to the growing worldwide movement of solidarity with
Venezuela and seeks new efforts to inform about what
happens in this South American nation.
The agenda includes a space for reflection, discussion
and analysis, with the participation of political leaders,
intellectuals and academics on the scope, challenges and
perspectives of the current Venezuelan political and social
process.
The principal topics for debate -in working groups of 200
people each- will be "Advances Reached by the Bolivarian
Revolution"; "Fascist Conspiracy against the Revolutionary
Process and its Actors" and "The Bolivarian Revolution in
the Framework of the Struggle against Neoliberal
Globalization."
In the first topic, debate will include the analysis of
the Bolivarian Constitution, democracy, revolutionary laws
enacted, and the rights of indigenous people.
The second one, will analyze details of the so-called
"media conspiracy," economic and oil industry sabotage and
the role of the Armed Forces in the Bolivarian Revolution
process.
The third subject deals with ideology, Latin American and
Caribbean geopolitics, the Free Trade Area of the Americas
(FTAA), sovereignty and regional integration.
A final plenary with the presence of all the delegations
will present conclusions of the event, which will be
summarized and closed by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.
A large popular celebration will be held on April 13, the
anniversary of President Chavez' restitution to power, that
put an end to his confinement at a Venezuelan military
prison. A photo-audio exhibit will be presented that also
contains printed material, titled "Rescue of the Historic
Memory of the Venezuelan People in its Liberation
Struggles."
Among the international guests who confirmed their
participation in the event are Bolivian indigenous leader
and deputy Evo Morales, French intellectual Bernard Cassen,
Italian Fausto Bertinotti, US sociologist James Petras,
Ignacio Ramonet, director of Le Monde Diplomatique, English
historian Richard Gott, Honduran farm leader Rafael Alegría,
Spanish journalist Ramón Chuao, World Social Net coordinator
Brazilian Carla Ferreira, and Colombian editor Luis Angel
Parra.
