Hi!

This year, in my country will realiste the WMF 2006.

The World Meeting of Families (WMF) is a large gathering that the Pope calls every three years to celebrate the divine gift that is the family. It brings together hundreds of thousands of families from the five continents to pray, talk, learn, share and go into depth on the understanding of the role of the Christian family as a domestic Church and basic unit for evangelisation.

Our government, conservative and rightist, are spending a lot of money with this religious act.

With our money shouldn't realise this acts. I like make a protest. What we could do? Are known other historical protests against religious acts?

Info about the event, here in this web: http://www.emf2006.org

Greatings!

What exactly do you want to protest here ? Surely any government doing something to promote a little family-stability is a good thing ? (despite what many femi-nazis like to think).

Granted, the Pope is probably the wrong vehicle for this kind of thing, but if people want to attend, and the government has to provide for them, whats the problem ?

Protest the money being spent on something you don't like, fair enough, but if people get the wrong idea, and think that you're protesting the idea of the family unit, then you could be in for a lot of flak from traditionalists.

If there are people willing to help you, I would suggest graffiti attacking the conference and what it stands for.

You don't have the financial resources to attack this reactionary gathering on a large scale...but some painted slogans on walls will at least serve to disturb them a bit.

I would suggest...

Fascist Families Go Home!

Down with the Church of Franco!

Christian Family = Fascist Fatherhood!

Holy Father = Holy Fascist!

Jesus Was the First Fascist!

And traditional communist and anarchist symbols should be attached...so people who see the slogans know who is opposing the conference.

Not from our point of view. Governmental and religious hierarchies promote "family stability" because they think it promotes societal stability.

That's obviously not what we want.

In addition, of course, the "traditional patriarchal family" is a pesthole of oppression for women and children...and does manufacture (with considerable efficiency) "good subjects" who will obey authority.

So this conference is worthy of protest.
