Don't be fooled by the name. It's more of a joke than anything else. I'll probably ask a lot of you for a chat room interview, because I'm writing a college paper on the current state of the Left.

I confess to being a patriotic American insofar as I think that the promise of the American Revolution has been betrayed but is not beyond recovery. I have also been to Venezuela, and am not exactly president of the Hugo Chavez fan club for purely pragmatic reasons.

The actual "joke", admittedly not a very funny one (btw, I'm as white as it gets), comes from when my father and I were having an argument, and he said something to the effect of, "Next thing I know you'll be out in the streets chanting 'Kill Whitey!'"

Patriotism is wrong, ignorant or not
By engaging in patriotism, which means devotion to one's country and its actions, makes u a part of the international problem

By devoting yourself to your country, you are puttin yourself at the disposal of your gov, and if your gov is imperialist as is the case (US), then you are part of the problem

Since you mentioned that ppl shouldn't be ignorant patriots, I would suggest that instead of using patriotism in this context, u use love for one's people or the like
Patriotism has always had a negative connotation
