Hope you don't mind a peace-loving, moderate socialist bowing his head in here.

Hope to learn a bit more about Trotskyism and communism in general during my stay here.

I'm a moderate socialist in that I support the empowerment of the working classes, and a severe kick in the teeth for the ruling classes :) And no Charles unfortunately i do not know you from anywere.

Clenched Fist,

The beginning really! Share your knowledge with me!

Lol, well eh... to put it basically, trotskyists are socialists who follow the ideas first set down by Marx, Lenin and Trotsky.

In practise this means that we believe in the need for a revolutionary party and mass protaletarain movment to overthrow the beugoirse.

The next stage of the process to communism is then the dictatorship of the protaletariat (also known as socialism) during which the working class will take power, through workers councils, these will be based upon each industry, although there will be a cnetral council to atke deciisons reguarding all industries. Members of the councils should never be paid more than a skilled worker and should be entireley recallable.

I would highly reccomend lenins State and the Revolution and Trotsky the tasks of the Fourht International for a good description of Trotskyism, I've done my best to describe the very basic ideals but any other questions I'll gladly answer.

I've read a good bit of Trotskyiest material. I personally belive Syndacilism is the best form for communism rather than the corrupt dictatorships which have plagued communist history.

Yeh I'm not crazy about stalinism and maoism either, I find that syndiclists are always abning on about how different they are form me but in reality their beliefes are quite similar.

Is the worker committee system not simply put, syndacilism? I always thought Trotsky was a Syndacilist.

Well if you want to say that a society based on workers control is exclusivley syndilist then yes.
