Hardly. Simplicity makes conveying an idea easier, why make it complicated? And, perhaps it is a slight generalisation but it is an accurate one, and a practical one. When make something unnecessarily complicated when trying to communicate an idea to someone and risk them not understanding it?

I never questioned the effectivity of simplicity; I merely pointed out that you cannot simply state for a fact that "people like simplicity", a generalisation of this kind is never in order. ;)
