my school is full of mindless sheep who cannot think for themselves. any time i bring up anarchy they will laugh and i hear whispers about riots and chaos. they have lack of understanding it seems. my school relies alot on our councils ie student, house etc commitees. so it is quite structured. a friend suggested i run for council then over throw it. now it seems i am the closest thing to a lefty at my school.
does anyone have any ideas how to go about trying to get some students to become more socially and culturally literate, and maybe even forming their own informed opinions about things?
any advice would be appreciated as i just want to try and make some kind of difference at least in the local community.

Try offering them leftist takes on news items, that always gets my friends thinking, and it's better than just spouting "Bush/Blair/whoever is a dick. Communism rules" (which I also tried ). Some decent examples - the Cuba hurricane (which I heard NOTHING about apart from on here, corrupt fucking media), the homophobic church bastards protesting at soldiers' funerals, and the police protecting a nazi march in Orlando recently from anarchist counter-protests.
Flick through the news forums on here, pick some items and get your mates talking. Give feedback please, I want to see how it goes :D
EDIT - Changed the march thing to reflect the actual place it happened

There's a whole world of hidden information for those who are prepared to look in the right direction. Show your schoolmates what is really going on, and they might just start to realise a thing or two.

Mos definitely
There is an endless amount of info and evidence which the majority of ppl ignore or are unaware of
Bring this info to their attention, show them what capitalist gov have done in the past, and what they continue to do in the present
Print this info, and use it to support your position
Good luck

just slip some leftist views into your normal conversation without being over zealous at first

You'd be fighting a losing battle, with the description you gave about your student body. There's a threshold to overcome before your cause can have any effect at all, never mind significant effect. Niall's advice is the best you can do: Proceed with caution. Try to sound like them, except slip some minor ideas into the conversations. Don't you have a school paper? Write for it.
