The Iraqi People Are Not Alone!
No words can express the fury and anger of the people of the world at the barbaric onslaught unleashed by the US imperialists and their faithful UK lap dogs. Opposed by the great majority of the world’s people, unable even to find support from most of their traditional allies and puppets, the US has shown that they rely on one thing only—the overwhelming superiority of their machinery of death and destruction.
In the last few months a tremendous mass movement has swept all over the globe. Millions and millions of people have demonstrated in the streets with a simple and powerful message: We don’t want this unjust war! Yet Bush and his cronies paid no heed. Does this mean that nothing has been accomplished over the last several months? A thousand times no! The struggle of the people of all countries has created far more favourable conditions to pursue the next, more difficult, stage of resisting this war. Under the pressure of the worldwide opposition by the people, the US has been forced to drop its fig leaf of a UN resolution and stand naked before the people of the world for everyone to see its hideous, murderous features. The strength of the antiwar forces, while not enough to stop the outbreak of the war, has grown by leaps and bounds. It will not be easy to defeat the US-UK war of aggression, but history has seen heroic examples –like the defeat of France in Algeria and the US in Vietnam, where a superior force was ultimately brought to its knees through determined struggle supported by justice-loving people the world over.
We cannot predict the course of this war. But we know that the level, intensity and breadth of the people’s opposition to it will have an electric effect on spurring more courageous resistance across the globe and limiting the freedom of the war makers to say and do what they please. It’s a planet-wide problem for them and we must marshal our strength around the world accordingly.
What is needed? Step up and intensify the struggle. Rally the people of every country to see that their own deepest interests lie in defeating this war of aggression. Vigorously fight every form of complicity between the governments and the war (especially bases, overflight rights, all forms of military cooperation).
