I sit at my computer with my mobile generally in my pocket or on the desk, and whenever I hear that little "du-dit-du-du" come through my speakers at around 20:00 and 22:00 I get just a little bit scared. Of course I don't think I'm being watched (or am I?), it's just that the capabitility is there.

I assume putting it off would disabled the tracker?

Remember, if you're not doing anything wrong, you have nothing to fear...

Didnt the Russians kill one of Chechnya's main leaders by tracking him on his mobile, and then use its signal to guide their bombs? I heard that sometime ago - not sure though.

From my understanding, turning it off dosnt disable anything (except your own use of the phone).
They can actually listen to your conversations - while the phone is off!!!!

Every cell phone emits a signal to cell phone towers whenever it goes off, or you place a call. Once you have access to the cell phone tower control center, you have access to everyones imediate position within a 20-30 mile radius.
The only man who is untrackable would be the one who never touches a computer or electronic product.

Funny, I thought I was the only one who got the little Morse blips over the phone. It's right before someone calls me or texts me, too. Bloody useful, actually.
Well, seeing as I'm not exactly in hiding, it doesn't bother me, but I can see how it would worry others.
