Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite, R-Brooksville, plans to introduce a bill today proposing that the families of the thousands of soldiers, sailors and airmen buried in France and Belgium be allowed to dig up their remains and have them shipped home.
Quote from the article -
"It's almost as if the French have forgotten what those thousands of white crosses at Normandy represent," she said.
I would say they know exactly what those little crosses mean, tons and tons of dead people because of war. Perhaps it is those thousand of white little reminders that makes them not want to get into a war?
I have to say that I truly can not call myself American any longer, changing french fries to freedom fries and french toast to freedom toast. Now talking about and actually proposing a bill to exhume bodies from France to move them to "Patriotic Soil".
I know now that I am alien from another world, these humans make no sense to me.

france does not want to stop war because innocent people will die. i dont think ANY government in the world really cares about another countries people.
France will veto ANY resolution that gives an evil dictator an ultimatum, meaning they want him to stay in power no matter what

hawarameen...that is not the issue at hand.
Myself, I find that disrespectful to the memory of the dead.

That is sickening, that she should cheapen the memory of those who died to protect our way of life (not to mention the russian and english and french ways of life) as a popularity move.

You are probably right, I am sure France is doing it for the money they get out of Iraq, since Iraq hasn't paid a bill in about 13 years.
What was France's vote on the attack of Milosevic?

Or that an ultimatium results in the death of innocent people. If an evil dictator is not currently killing anybody, there is no reason to kill a bunch of people to remove him. Now perhaps if we were talking almost 20 years ago the day after the gassing of Iraqi civilians, things would be different.

One thing I'm sure the US ruling class are also pissed about are the monuments to the soviet troops that died in WW2.
There is still a place called Stalingrad in Paris, I went there because i couldn't believe it when I saw it on the Metro map.
I agree the french govt. is doing what they are for their own selfish interests.

The Russian, French, Chinese are all hypocritical on this issue. But so are the Yanks, Poms, and Aussies.

The weapons deal with Iraq may be a reason, all governments being corrupt. However, there is a large Arab population in France and they would not like to upset them by going to war in the Middle East.
Russia, I think, have been saying since 1991/1992 that they will not support any UN ultimatum which impeads the unnecessary use of force upon a country's population.
