i am new to the concept but facinated by communism and marxism
so please help me and someone defne "Proletariat" for me

The proletariat is the class that does not own or have access to the means of production, and so they must sell their labour to the bourgeousie as a way of survival.

I guess that is the simple definition.

'Proletariat' seems to be one of those words with a double meaning. Often it simply means the working class in general, that is, all those who make a living by selling their labour, rather than owning capital. more narrowly it is often used in reference to the industrial working class, i.e. factory workers and related occupations.
