What is your opinion on the subject of Transhumanism as a whole? Also any specific opinions on the theory of Transhumanist socialism and its consequences.

We shouldn't close our eyes to the future-there's no point in advancing ahead of ourselves. We should deal with the problems that present themselves at the moment.

"Transhumanism is a class of philosophies that seek to guide us towards a posthuman condition. Transhumanism shares many elements of humanism, including a respect for reason and science, a commitment to progress, and a valuing of human (or transhuman) existence in this life. […] Transhumanism differs from humanism in recognizing and anticipating the radical alterations in the nature and possibilities of our lives resulting from various sciences and technologies
"the idea that new technologies are likely to change the world so much in the next century or two that our descendants will in many ways no longer be 'human'."
The Transhumanist FAQ,[3] prepared by the World Transhumanist Association, gives the following two formal definitions:
(1) The intellectual and cultural movement that affirms the possibility and desirability of fundamentally improving the human condition through applied reason, especially by developing and making widely available technologies to eliminate aging and to greatly enhance human intellectual, physical, and psychological capacities.
(2) The study of the ramifications, promises, and potential dangers of technologies that will enable us to overcome fundamental human limitations, and the related study of the ethical matters involved in developing and using such technologies.
Transhumanists are often concerned with methods of enhancing the human brain. Though some propose anatomical and peripheral nervous system enhancement, the brain is considered the common denominator of personhood and is thus the primary focus of transhumanist ambitions.
Well that sounds like me. I guess I'm a transhumanist although I had never heard the term before. I'm the nightmare of primitivists!
We must realise and embrace the opportunities provided to us by technological progress. I recognize no "moral" boundaries for the usage of technology to optimise living conditions, and in the future, the human body.
I'll definitely do some research on the transhumanist teories.

Yeah, I know.. but that's what visions of the future tend to look like I guess. :)

I seem to have been a transhumanist for several years, and I have thought of myself as one.
The thing that interests me most is the concept of brain uploading: transferring your consciousness onto a computer or some such so that your intelligence increases, as well as your thought speed, breaking the 55 mph barrier.
