CORRECTIMUNDO AGAIN!!!

i'm really excited. the next edition of our magazine is gonna be the 'sedition edition' to critcise the new sedition laws by publishing seditious articles [which could see us jail for 7 years] and write articles about the effect the laws will have. so i'm writing one about how it will effect musicians, and i chose the herd because they're a) local and accessible b) political c) my favourite aussie band ever :D

i called one of em up last night, and he told me that they actually got a mention in parliament when the laws were being discussed! cos they have a song called 'burn down the parliament', and some of their songs criticise australian military involvement in certain wars which is apparently 'seditious' :roll: he's gonna forward me a transcript

argh im bursting with happiness :D

How did you get to interview them? Through your uni mag or something?

A friend of mine from Perth interviewed them a month or two back for Perth Indymedia, and has also interviewed other cool progressive type groups, such as Combat Wombat!

my good friend's sister is going out with rok poshtya - has been for the last 6 years so my friend's really close to them and shtuff :D so she gave me his number and ye! all set to happen at the claire :)

last year's vertigo interviewed unkle ho, and the year before that did an article on the herd too [though im not sure if she interviewed them.] i think we're a bit obsessed :P

rok poshtya was actually ed of tharunka [unsw mag] when he was in uni. and he went to uni with kerry nettle which is how they got a mention in parliament :P then again, everyone knows kerry nettle somehow...

they're like, one of my favourite bands, and definitely my fave aussie band. they gets heaps of airplay on jjj these days i hear, and their last sydney concert sold out in a few hours. and was completely PACKED and went off like crazy.

id preferr interviewing em to winning the superbowl, to be honest :D

i talked to dale, and he said he'd get a few of the others in. they're going up the east coast though i believe, won't be back in sydney til the start of march so i'll hafta wait til then :( and then they're heading off to tassie - small gap. i'm thinking ozi batla and maybe urthy will make an appearance.

i'm quite fond of hermitude too, beautiful beats. id like to interview them some day as well "D
