does brazil have a socialist/leftist government?

because i watched a program about rio, and the favellas, it was saying ohw the police just serve and protect the rich people and as long as crime stays in the poor areas they are happy to contain it rather than stop it, so it keeps the tourists and the rich white people happy. is that true? crime is pretty fucking bad there.

Well Lula the president is a wishywashy reformist, although I think there is still wide scale corruption in the olice force in Brazil. I dont have much faith in Lula either, he seems to have been bough by the IMF.

Don't know about the socialist movement but crime in Brazil is definitely rampant.

In Rio, police "death squads" go around killing drug dealers and street kids. Have you seen the documentary Bus 174? If you haven't you should do so, it goes into the background of one kid who hijacked a bus. He had a real fucked up childhood. Cops killed all his friends.

Well, Brazil has Lula, a member of the Workers Party as president, but he is nothing more than a reformist, and a shitty one at that. Police corruption and income disparity is EXTREMELY bad in Brazil.
