Does anyone knpw where on the Net i can listen to a decent version of 'The World Turned Upside Down.' (also called 'The Digger's Song')?

you know the one? 'they defied the landlords, they defied the law' etc.

If anyone can suggest a site i could go to, that would be great. Thanx.

Where do you live? If you live in australia, there is an anarchist organisation who could send a CD out to you with the song on it - i have the CD - but i can't find it :P

I've got a few versions that I could send you.
Leon Rosselson (he wrote it)
Billy Bragg
Dick Gaughan
Attila the Stockbroker
Karen Casey
The Oyster Band
Chumbawamba did a great version that I think I have somewhere.

I was gonna say, I have Bragg's version I could send you. But celtopunk seems to have that area covered.

I remember hearing this on the BBC4 documentary "lefties" the other day...

As it turns out I don't have the Rosselson version, I do have another song that he has recorded about the Diggers which you will sometimes see listed as "the Diggers Song" or "You Noble Diggers". Chumbawamba did this song on "English Rebel Songs" which also contains a song "World Turned Upside Down" which incidentally is not the Leon Rosselson song but a good song still although they have recorded the Rosselson version as well. Now if you are doing a search you might see that crappy band Coldplay listed as someone who has recorded a song with this title it is neither the Rosselson song nor the one that Chumbawamba did but just another one of their crappy songs (sorry I had to editorialize).

I'm sure there are other versions out there and I'd love to hear from anyone that knows of them.

The Attila version combines both songs into one which is pretty cool.
