Its completly ridiculous to think that i am against walkouts because i moved a topic. This topic DOES belong in "Practice" and not "Politics". So, don't give me shit for using common-fucking-sense.

At the request of Guerillaradio i am moving this thread BACK to politics (even though it does NOT belong there) because of the urgency of the topic.

We had a massive walkout here in the US a few weeks back on March 5th – it was mainly college walkouts, but other people walked out of their jobs to join the demonstrations too. It was called the “Books Not Bombs” demonstration against war on Iraq - I walked out of my job and was part of those demonstrations.

There are also massive demonstrations being staged in Washington DC that started on Saturday March 15th and will be going on all week. People from all over the country are there marching on the White House, holding demonstration rallies etc. – all this week, and evidently there are similar demonstrations going on globally this week.

There is also a call for more massive walkouts in the event that our government invades Iraq:

United for Peace and Justice Call for Emergency "Day After" Anti-War Actions
by United for Peace and Justice
If the U.S. Attacks Iraq, Make Your Opposition Known!

*WALK OUT of classes at high schools and colleges. Call in sick to work. If our government is killing people in a far off country, there can be no business as usual here at home.

There is shit going on here against what our government is doing – but probably not as much as should be.

well i tried to walk out my school but the whole 3 of us didnt get through the front door lol....i went up to the office wifie and said we're away to walk out against the war and then she shouted on one of the senoir management guys and he told us to come back through and said "this is just not ACCEPTABLE" and there was also another senior management guy there....and they said we had to go to the headteacher....so in we go to the headteachers office thingy....and he said that we should do stuff during educational time and that this week would be hard enough for everyone without us walking out and that we were setting a bad example to younger pupils and we just kinda stood there like arses and muttered...."yeah spose" "sorry" and then we had to go back to class.
So we walk back into chemistry(and the lab has two classes in it divided by a small partition) so like 40 people started laughin at us when we came back in....i was like at least we had the fucking guts to do it you fucking bunch of fucks!

In one class 15 people were about to walk out but the teacher locked them into the class :S and i heard rumours that we are not getting anymore freedom of speech or getting to express individuality - SCHOOL CAN FUCK OFF!

Also there was a memo sent out to all classes after lunch warning them that there were rumours of an anti-war protest and that no one was allowed out of class and the Senioir Management Team would be patrolling the corridors...fucking prison....it even looks like one!! s

So thats my tale of my walkout!
