No penalty for gun death officers

Two police marksmen who killed a man carrying a table leg they mistook for a gun will not face disciplinary action.

A report into the 1999 shooting of Scot Harry Stanley in Hackney, east London, has concluded that their actions were "appropriate in the circumstances".

Nice to see our British cousins are "catching up" with America.

The next step: give them medals for bravely gunning down unarmed civilians.

The "Bronze Turd", perhaps.

Wasn't this during a period of some pressure for police forces over here ?

It's not like America, they don't always have guns, so if the police are called by someone claiming that someone else is wandering around with a gun, it's treated rather more seriously methinks.

That's all well and good, but 'shoot to kill' is a bit excessive isn't it? Even if he was carrying a gun instead of a potentially dangerous part of a table surely they could have shot him in the shoulder to effectively disarm him? It's disgusting but it should hopefully be a good wake up call to alot of british citizens.

This has been going on for much longer than 7 years, I know of many similar cases dating back to the early 90's, and there will no doubt have been many before that but just forgotten through time.

It is always a time of pressure. Remember most people here severely disagree with an "authority" of the police. For them not to be subject to the same, if not sterner penalties than they are trying to enforce it is even more disturbing.

The times they do are enough. This is why we should not have armed enforces of "civil liberty."

One of his mates was argueing with a police officer, and he defended him. The cop didn't like what he heard so sprayed him from 3 feet away - regulation says at least 5 feet.

It blinded him for a few days (and possibly still?), and caused serious burns to his face. If he had been attacking the police officer, it wouldn't have made headline news.

Well I got the article from BBC News and it says....

The Police are an absolute pain in the arse on a "Saturday night". A couple of times I've had my head "on the bonnet", a mate of mine recently got fined for having a piss in a lane and I've seen them take quite a few people in for fuck all.

From the article....

CS spray man 'scarred for life'
Mr Ford has been told he cannot go out in daylight for over a year, which means he cannot work.

We can all sleep well at night knowing "Our Majesty's" best men are at work! :o
