I am just wondering why. The fascist movement didn't go too well either, but capitalism seems to be going round (Damn rail privatisation!).
Parties like the BNP have recnetly garnered some support, but they are racist arseholes who shouldn't be allowed near a Union Jack flag.

I'm new by the way. Greetings.

right wing scum like the BNP are taking off because people are feeling cheated with the number of asylum seekers coming in, they are using them as a scapegoat, i think it is mostly young dis-illutioned people who are being brain wahsed by these nazi scumbags. although i do think the scottish socialist party will gain some good ground in the next elections...i hope. labour and the tories are becoming boring and far too similar so peole are becoming more extreme..right or left

Hello, NoXion, welcome to the board!

The main obstacle for the left is ignorance, people are essentially brainwashed by what they hear from birth, that communism can't work, money is essential, you have to look after yourself first, etc, but this isn't necessarily true and we have to show this.

The BNP is succesful because they go to areas that have racial tension already and make it worse, they take the people who no longer support the Tories because they think they're too soft or in a mess and use them in their crusade for the far right. it is our challenge to counteract this and improve life for as many people as possible.

This society confuses me, Robin Hood, a blatant socialist is a hero for taking from the rich and giving to the poor, but if ther government tries to do it they are just taking away your "hard earned money" and giving it to people who "sponge off socioety" That pisses me off when people have those attitudes.

What bugs me about racism is that people who are racist think that other races are not fully human (That's why they kept them seperate in apartheid regimes)
that really irks me. we are all the same regardless of skin colour. Maybe I'm not racist because I grew up in South East London, where there are loads of blacks and asians. however there are hardly any ethnic types in North Wales, and there is some anti-English sentiment
among the more right wing Welsh people.
I must tell you now I barely consider myself a socialist, let alone a communist, but according to my Political Compass I am neither very authoritarian nor very liberal (in the middle!) and I have strong leftist leanings.
Just to avoid confusion later.

Well, I suppose one could say it was due to monarchy to begin with. Up until about 1910, Spreading early forms of socialism was difficult partially because of loyalism.

Howevewr, the liberal democrat were probably the closest major party to socialism

In 1914, the Labour party was formed. Supplies etc in Britain wanted to be shared out more equally. The labour party were socialist, but not extreme. Over time, They would shift to the right, and become a conservative-capitalist party.

After the second world war, The good old US of A was the superpower [or what some more hardcore leftists, [perhaps myself at times] would call the 'master race'.]

Britain was allies with america [the strongest link in world alliance probably] and britain just didn't become communist. The Cold War, as well as many other thing prevented this.

Pleased to welcome you to the board!
